BRUCE DICKINSON's Son Joins London's OPHELIA As Band's New Singer - Nov. 24, 2006
Austin Dickinson, son of IRON MAIDEN frontman Bruce Dickinson, has joined the West London, U.K.-based metal band OPHELIA as the group's new singer. The band's curent lineup consists of:
John Pearson - Bass
Jack Sinclair - Drums
Jamie Dumas - Guitar
Ned Chambers - Guitar
Austin Dickinson - Vocals
OPHELIA's MySpace page, which features a sample of the track "Queen Ranavalona" — recorded *before* Austin joined the group — can be found at this location. Austin's personal MySpace profile is located here.
World Entertainment News Network recently reporeds that < Bruce Dickinson has been banned from watching his 17-year-old son's gigs, because he gets put off when he sees his dad in the audience.
Dickinson has agreed to his son Austin's request, but only because he remembers the embarrassment he felt when his own father used to come and watch him play as a young man.
Bruce says, "He (Austin) said to me, 'I know you want to come but when you do, I panic.' I understand. I don't want to be a stage dad.
"I remember my dad coming to one of my first gigs and marching to the front in his suit and putting his elbows on the stage. Embarrassing."
